“Faith is often a really difficult thing to talk about, mainly because it is not physical, and that’s why people’s stories are such an effective way to explore it. I haven’t been a Christian for many years but looking back there have been far too many “coincidences” for there not to be a God at work in my life.
Day by day I see that God is not some far off being, but someone who is loving, caring and has completely shown His character as Jesus. The Bible tells how He lived as one of us, ultimately to provide a way that we might know God. Jesus was the most compassionate, selfless person to have lived and I am convinced that the claims He made are true.
Jesus said: “Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” This is a “rest” which I truly believe God has given me. I’m not saying life is easy … far from it! But the peace that comes from knowing that God loves me and has given everything for me is amazing.
I think the most difficult thing for me has always been admitting that I need help; the fear of showing others a vulnerability, that things are often not ‘okay’ on my own. Putting on a façade or front, yet underneath things are far from alright. Putting on a smile in a room full of friends. God sees me and knows my weaknesses and fears, yet still says “come to me”. He accepts without parameters; He suffered and died in my place even before I knew Him. This is a truth I hope many of you will come to know as well. Can I encourage you to read the other stories on this website? – All of them from real people who have experienced a very real God.”
